A collaboration between MHRD, Prasar Bharti, IGNOU and other organisations has resulted in launching DD Gyan Darshan, the ;Educational
Channel of India. In a significant gesture, Electronic Media Production Centre
(EMPC) of IGNOU has been identified as
the coordinating and transmitting center.
Regular
transmission of educational programmes from the EMPC
studios started on January 10, 2000. The Channel is providing educational programmes on a variety of subjects for 24 hours a day
to enhance the learning process. Steps are being taken to relay the Gyan Darshan Channel through
different Cable Operators in the Country for wider outreach. GD signals can be
conveniently received without any special equipment anywhere. Gyan Darshan has now gone
completely digital and expanded into a bouquet of
channels namely GD-1, GD-2, GD-3 Eklavya and
GD-4 Vyas.
Educational programmes are contributed by major educational
institutions such as IGNOU, UGC/CEC, NCERT/CIET, Directorate of Adult
Education, IITs and other educational/development
organizations in the country. Gyan Darshan transmissions up-linked from the earth station of
EMPC-IGNOU,
At present, Gyan Darshan viewing facility is
available at the Regional Centre and at Study Centres : 2805 (Siliguri).
This facility will also be made available to other Study Centres
in due course of time.
Learners may view
Gyan Darshan channel at the Regional
Centre / Study Centres as mentioned above. Course
specific discussion is done by eminent expert(s). There will be no charge
for availing this facility.
The schedule
of Gyan Darshan programmes will be available
at the Regional Centre / Study Centre(s) and also at :www.ignou.ac.in. The learner needs to go to the nearest
Centre at the scheduled time for taking benefit of this facility.
